What to ask at a new-concrete handover

Get a project-specific care and access plan in writing. Appearance alone does not establish that a new surface is ready for every use.

Representative concrete material and project context

Clarify the access restrictions

Ask when walking, furniture and vehicle use can resume for the actual material, weather and curing approach. These can be different milestones. Do not substitute a general internet timeline for the instructions applying to the installed surface.

Keep the care instructions

Record the recommended cleaning, any sealer care and any restrictions on products or equipment. Ask whom to contact if you notice an issue and what information they will need. Keep photos and the original scope with the handover documents.

Understand what was agreed

Review any written warranty directly with the provider; this website does not guarantee the work. Confirm outstanding cleanup or restoration items and the process for resolving them. An honest handover distinguishes normal material behavior from a concern that needs assessment rather than promising perfection.

Separate walking from loading

Ask for the actual permitted-use milestones for the surface. Walking, moving furniture and bringing a vehicle back may follow different instructions. Note the person providing them and keep the written directions with the project documents. Do not infer readiness from a dry-looking surface, a photograph or a generic elapsed-day rule. If conditions change, ask whether the instructions need to be updated.

Inspect against the agreed scope

Walk through the installation using the accepted sketch and proposal. Check whether cleanup, access restoration and any outstanding finish details match what was agreed. Record questions with a wide photograph and a closer detail rather than declaring a technical defect from appearance alone. Ask what needs professional assessment and how to contact the business responsible. Distinguish an unresolved contract item from a normal-care question.

Keep a usable record for later

Save the contract, any accepted drawings, change approvals, care instructions and the named contact for concerns. If a written warranty exists, read its coverage and exclusions directly; do not substitute a website summary. Record any remaining task and who has agreed to handle it. A clear handover is a practical set of instructions and responsibilities, not simply a final photograph of the new surface.
